Our History
The Democratic Club of Lincoln was formed in 2002 by a small group of like-minded individuals who found themselves surrounded by Republicans neighbors. They wanted a welcoming place that was safe for civil discussion on political issues which impacted them as well as their community, so the Democratic Club of Lincoln was formed.
Their mission was to bring together local democrats throughout Lincoln to raise awareness, promote education, encourage service to the community, and have some fun along the way. These goals still guide our club and remain at the heart of everything we do.
Today the Democratic Club of Lincoln (DCL) is much more than a discussion group — we are a community of action with nearly 650+ members and more than 1,200+ people connected through our newsletter.
Whether advocating for our values, supporting candidates, or helping neighbors in need, DCL members do not stand quietly on the sidelines when there is work to be done.
We are working tirelessly to seat Democratic candidates in our local, state and federal governments. With the support of our members and friends, we launch Get-Out-The-Vote campaigns, promote voter education through our regular monthly meetings and sponsorship of a variety of community service events.
If you’re not yet a member, we invite you to join us. Memberships and donations help support our mission to build a strong, thriving democratic community. Thank you for your interest!
