Hundreds Protest Medicaid Cuts at Kiley’s Office
The Fund Care, Not Billionaires Day of Action organized by National Nurses United drew hundreds to Kevin Kiley's Rocklin office on July 1st. Chants of "Healthcare, Not Wealthcare" and "Fund Care, Not Billionaires" could be heard as protesters gathered and marched along Lonetree Blvd. Speakers stressed how the Medicaid cuts in Trump’s “Big Ugly Bill” to fund the government will undermine our entire healthcare system. Thanks to all the Lincoln Dems who came out. Unfortunately, our protests fell on deaf ears. The budget reconciliation bill was passed by Congress with Kiley's support on July 3rd.

4th of July Parade!
Lincoln Dems had a great time marching in Lincoln's 4th of July parade!
It’s always an honor to participate in the Lincoln Parade with hundreds of Lincolnites lining the streets in anticipation of each next group. There were floats, dancers, beautiful horses with riders, and of course, there was us!
We had 7 walkers, 2 children with bubble blowers, 2 Dems on bikes, 7 golf carts, and one classic car for a total of 28 Dems, all decked out in their July 4th best!
BIG Kudos to June Paquette for organizing a great showing replete with flags, streamers, bunting, and lots of sparklers!
No Kings Biggest Protest Rally!
Across America, in small towns, big cities, rural areas and the 'burbs, an estimated 5M+ people flooded the streets peacefully protesting at 2,100 "No Kings" events in all 50 states, red and blue—a massive display of the power we hold when we stand together for democracy, dignity, and hope. There were even No Kings events in other countries standing in solidarity!
Cool Brew & Conversation
Fowler Ranch Brewery It Was A HIT!
WOW! What a great crowd! A larger than anticipated group showed up to enjoy cool brews and conversations at Fowler Ranch Brewery on Thursday afternoon (June 19). Although 54 fun loving Democrats RSVP’d, we lost count after 75+ people came through the door!
It was great to meet new members, see old friends and hear so much laughter in the room. Nothing better than sharing a beer with like-minded friends.
We especially want to thank Fowler Ranch Brewery for being a great host. We’ll be back!
Stay turned for more fun social events – another one is right around the corner!

Democracy Workshop!
Placer County Democrats partnered with the Democratic Club of Lincoln to host this amazing event! With over 200 RSVP’s, it is clear that many people want to do more to protect our democracy.
Barbara Smith, 2nd Chair of the Democrat Central Committee, introduced the agenda for the evening and provided an overview of the Placer County Democratic Party, identifying areas where volunteers can plug in and contribute. She was followed by Ruth Cox, President of the Democratic Club of Lincoln, who offered messaging points on the strengths of the Democratic Party, our values, and the dangers that Trump and Kiley pose to our Democracy.
These presentations were followed by a series of break-out sessions where concerned citizens learned about tools and techniques to maximum their efforts in affecting change. Subjects included effective ways to use social media, how to write letters to the editor, and leverage support programs like Democracy Circles and Vote Forward. Other topics included how to run for public office and how to successfully organize “Coffee & Conversation” outreach events.
Here are some of the comments left by attendees:
"I liked the format of having breakout sessions on different topics. Well organized, the right length of time, relevant information."
"Great information and solidarity with like-minded individuals were really helpful in these dark political times."
"It's up to us to bring change and kick out the elected officials who are not representing us!"
To those who presented and all who attended, thank you! We know you will go forth and fight the good fight!
If you weren’t able to join us, stay tuned as we will be holding additional workshops in the coming months.

Coffee and Conversation
Our newest initiative called Coffee & Conversation, seeks to engage democrats throughout Lincoln in discussions to learn what their priorities are, and what they need from our political parties and elected officials to protect and improve our quality of life.
We hope to gain insights from your perspectives, as well as ideas that you and your neighbors have for our community and for the country. They are how we generate the ideas and foster the solutions to shape a better future for families. And, the conversations at these gatherings can serve as a consistent source of inspiration to remind ourselves that a better future is indeed possible – and we can shape it together.
If you're interested in hosting or participating in a Coffee & Conversation, please let us know. Contact Ruth Cox for further information.
